An excavator knocks down the walls of the old Lake Charles Fire Department Training facility at 4649 Common St. Thursday. A new McNeese State University baseball field house will be built on this site, which is adjacent to McNeese’s Joe Miller Ballpark. In a land swap between the City of Lake Charles and McNeese, the city is turning over this Common Street property to the university in exchange for a tract of land on the back side of the McNeese farm. The city plans to eventually build a fire station for the MorganField Development on the McNeese Farm land it is acquiring from the university.
