Traffic is diverted from Dr. Michael DeBakey Dr. onto Westwood Street Wednesday morning as reconstruction work continues on a pedestrian skybridge connecting Christus Oschner St. Patrick Hospital to its parking garage across the street. The skybridge was destroyed during Hurricane Laura in August 2020. It made national news, according to hospital Marketing and Communications Director Heather Hidalgo. “I got a call from CNN in the middle of the night after it happened,†Hidalgo said. The bridge was donated by a group of associates many years ago, and once the rebuild is complete, those associates will be invited to be the first to walk across it, she said.
