Monday was Earth Day and two natural redheads made an appearance during this 24-hour period set aside to demonstrate support for environmental protection. A male cardinal, top, takes off after gathering seed on the ground of a Lake Charles patio. And a three-toed box turtle, bottom, a subspecies of the Eastern box turtle, makes its way through a patch of grass in the same yard. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day now includes events in more than 193 countries.
