Donna Price / American PressA baby barred owl pokes himself out of a backyard owl house in an old sweet gum tree Sunday evening in Lake Charles. Young barred owls can leave the nest when they are about four weeks old, but they donÕt begin to fly until they are 35 to 40 days old. This owl has not yet flown, and has just begun to venture out of the house.
