Coral, a K-9 Unit German Shepard, roams through the classroom at the CPSO Training Academy during Canine Encounters.

Tomorrow, Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Calcasieu Training Academy located at 3958 Mallard Cove Dr. in Lake Charles, deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will participate in a training course, “Canine Encounters,” which is intended to teach deputies who come across dogs on their daily duties have a better understanding on how to deal with these encounters.

The media is invited to attend any or all of the training and take pictures/video. CPSO Lt. Bobby Manuel will be attending the class and will be happy to do an interview.
