Workers refurbish the roof of the Junior League building at 1019 Lakeshore Drive Wednesday morning.The building was constructed in 1903 by the the Waters Pierce Oil Company for use as a stable. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.The Junior League of Lake Charles was founded in 1933.
It is one of 294 Junior Leagues in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom, which are part of the Association of Junior Leagues International, totaling approximately 170,000 women. The Junior League of Lake Charles, Inc. has approximately 500 members.
