George Melancon, the son of Jennifer Melancon of Lake Charles, braces for a plunge in the water at the bottom of a slide at the Cameron Fishing Festival on Saturday.

Sponsored by Cameron Lions Club. Always the first full weekend in August, on Friday and Saturday. Saltwater fishing rodeo, live music venues, good local food, children's activities, Queen's contest. Staged at end of Davis Road at the Cameron Jetty Pier Pavilion.

Festival is sponsored by the Cameron Lions Club, one of Cameron Parish's oldest non-profit civic organizations. All money raised go back to community youth programs and organizations, the Louisiana Lions Crippled Children's Camp in Leesville, the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation in New Orleans, and the Cameron Lions Club Scholarship Program.
