Masked first-graders in teacher Logan Hebert’s class work on a STEM project involving marshmallows on the first day of school at Combre-Fondel Elementary, 2115 Fitzenreiter Road. The students are enrolled in the new Northside STEM Academy. Friday was the first day for the STEM academy, located inside the school. Students from this school and other schools must be tested to be accepted into it. It is only the second STEM academy in the parish. The first one is located at E.K. Key Elementary School in Sulphur.
