6 year old Safara Robertson, daughter of Mallory and Billy Sagle of Lake Charles, gets the chance to pet a 10 month old Red Kangaroo at the Aussie Kingdom at Contraband Days on Sunday. Aussie Kingdom offers a great educational experience for attendees. From a greater understanding of the various species that are native to the Australian outback. They also will learn about the culture down-under, including many unique names and sayings.

Out of an overwhelming interest in the pouched wonders of the animal world by fair goers nationwide, Aussie Kingdom was created in 2007. Centrally located in Colorado, Founder and President Carolyn Lantz gives fair goers the opportunity to connect with animals on a personal level. “We’re more likely to preserve and protect what we know,” Ms. Lantz says; speaking of her work with the creatures of Aussie Kingdom.


During the day on Thursday and Friday of both weeks there will be a special showings for day centers and schools. Contact the Contraband Days office at 436-5508 to reserve your spot.

Shows will be about 30 minutes and will run three times a day. The kangaroos will be on site the entire festival for viewing.
