Southwest Louisiana recognized "Mental Illness Awareness Week" with a candlelight vigil on the Lakefront. NAMI of Southwest Louisiana said it's another way they are raising awareness for those living with the disease and for their caregivers. Several people spoke publicly about their struggle with mental illness and the reasons it's so important to erase the stigma and get people the help they need. On Monday, cooperation with Imperial Calcasieu Human Services Authority and NAMI Southwest Louisiana, there will be a Candlelight Vigil honoring Mental Health Awareness Week in Lake Charles, LA. This event will take place behind the Civic Center on the steps of the Lakefront. Please join us in supporting the citizens in the Lake Charles area dealing with the challenges and struggles of a Mental Health diagnosis.
