The entranceway to Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Animal Services And Adoption Center, 5500-A Swift Plant Road, is blocked off and locked Thursday, although the website at https://www.calcasieuparish.gov/services/animal-services-and-adoption and the Facebook page says adoption hours are Monday-Friday Noon-5:30 p.m. A sign attached to the fence says to call 337-721-3730 to make an appointment, but repeated tries at that number Thursday afternoon yielded a constant busy signal.
