Area fibre artists, The SWLA Yarnstormers, graffitied knitting light posts in downtown Lake Charles in celebration of Spring Art Walk, Friday April 26th, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. These colorful pieces of handmade art were installed on Wednesday, April 24th, and removed the following Wednesday, May 1st. Yarn storming is a type of street art that uses colorful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn rather than paint or chalk in public spaces. It is a non permanent, non damaging form of graffiti that has been seen in Austin, Seattle, Denver and in trendy cities around the world. The Arts Council of SWLA is pleased to present this unique and colorful public art project, with special thanks to the City of Lake Charles for their continued vision of a vibrant cultural center in downtown Lake Charles.
