Union Pacific Railroad is
constructing a new bridge
adjacent to the 70-year-old I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge. According to Robynn Tysver, communications manager with the railroad, work on the bridge began in December. “We are currently building a temporary work bridge for the cranes needed to remove the old bridge and to build a new 600-foot bridge. We expect to be done in the second quarter of this year,†she said in an email. Here, a work crew puts things in place Thursday for the temporary work bridge.
